Well...I finally got to read this year's Dr. Seuss Award winner and I loved it!  I can't wait to share it with one of my favorite beginner readers-I work with his mom (she's the coolest boss ever) and I'm handing it over to her tomorrow...he is going to LOVE it! You know it's good if Elephant and Piggie endorse it.

I'm listening to Scar Island (audiobook) during my commute to and from work and it is REALLY good so far. I was consumed by the story almost immediately and the character development is absolute genius. I'm also reading Short on my kindle (I borrowed it from the library through the Overdrive app) and I am really enjoying that too. Luckily the stories are completely different from each other, so I probably won't warp the two into each other. When I want to read two books at the same time I've found it's easier to keep the storylines separate if the books are from different genres. Scar Island is suspenseful and pretty far fetched while Short is realistic fiction so things are working well inside my brain. Today I came home to a dilemma...these three books arrived by mail this afternoon and I want to read all of them right now.

I will be finishing Short and Scar Island by tomorrow and I'm looking forward to telling you all about both stories because I really enjoyed them...and as much as I hate to see a good book end it means I get to start another great story (or two). My next read is One Amazing Elephant. It's been compared to The One and Only Ivan. Time will tell if that was a huge mistake or a brilliant representation of what I'm about to consume.
